# Fantasy Modpack Guide

Hello, this is the guide to my fantasy modpack. There are lots of things I won't mention here, but many major additions are covered.

## Origins

When you first join the server you will be prompted to select an origin. This server has 9 origins. Celine would appreciate if only two people chose each origin (this is not a hard rule).

I would not recommend choosing Blazeborn or Enderian, as the former spawns in the nether and both take damage in water (though there is an enchantment to reduce this). I would also not recommend choosing Merling, because only being able to breathe underwater or with the water breathing effect significantly restricts where you can go.

If you want to try the origins out, you can open a singleplayer world and use the `/origin` command to give yourself any origin.

I'll probably add a recipe for an item that can change your origin, but for now just message me and I'll reopen the origin selection screen for you (Do this only if you want a long term switch, not just to test them).

## Mining and Logging

The first major thing that differs from vanilla minecraft is mining. For starters, gemstones, redstone, and lapis now drop as rough ores and must be polished on a grindstone to become their regular forms. Gemstones like diamond and emerald must be polished on a diamond grindstone, made with deepslate and two rough diamond shards (9 can be crafted from one rough diamond). This grindstone will wear out as it is used and must occasionally be restored by being right-clicked with rough diamond shards.

Additionally, it is possible to chop down an entire tree at once by chopping its trunk while sneaking. This takes a while, and does equivalent damage to your axe's durability as if you had chopped the whole tree down one block at a time. It also replants the tree as a sapling.

## Death

Items dropped by players on death will not despawn, but are still susceptible to things like burning in lava or being destroyed by a cactus.

## Exploration

### Map

The map can be opened by pressing `M`. It displays biomes and common structures you've come across, as well as allowing you to create waypoints and keeping track of the places you've died. It will automatically keep track of common structures, but for many structures you will have to manually make waypoints if you want to keep track of them. To share waypoints and map data with another player, use the `/surveyor share <player>` command.

### Travel

**Waystones**

Waystones are the first major method of transportation. They can be found in many villages and are discovered when right-clicked. You can travel from one discovered waystone to another at the cost of one level of experience. It is also possible to craft single use items that allow you to teleport to a discovered waystone. I may increase the experience cost of waystone travel in the future if it turns out to be unbalanced.

**Carts**

Carts are carried by the player or a horse and can store large amounts of items or an entity. There are also utility carts, which can do things like till large amounts of soil or make wider paths when dragged behind the player.

**Airships**

Airships are expensive and quite slow, but provide a good method of mid-game flight. They come in many varieties, and can be upgraded with lots of parts, including weapons.

### Overworld

**Villages**

There are plenty of new villages across the world, all in different styles. Some will have walls, and some will be floating on the ocean. Some will have waystones, and some will not.

### Nether

The nether's terrain is now much more dramatic, and has many more structures to explore.

### End

The end has several new biomes and structures to explore, and has much more dynamic terrain. At its heart, though, it is still the same desolate wasteland.

## Food and Farming

There are many new crops and methods to cook with them. Tip: You can craft three times as much bread by crafting wheat into bread dough and baking it.

You can also brew wines using the vinery mod. There are many different wines, all with different and unique effects.

## Magic

If you want to get started with hex casting, this server's magic mod, you'll need to find an amethyst geode. This mod introduces stack-based programmable spellcasting through the use of symbols drawn on a hexagonal grid. Be warned though, this mod may drive you mad in real life!

## User Interface

If you want to see your player model in first person, you can press F6.

## Performance Optimization

If you're running the game on an older device, you may want to optimize your performance. You can do this by removing the better leaves resource packs in the resource pack menu. Another way to boost performance is to go into `options > video settings > shader packs > miniature shader > shader pack settings` and right click the profile until it is at `lowest`. Because the shader is so lightweight, you will probably not need to remove it. If your game starts having issues when it rains, that can be configured in `mods > particle rain` where you'll find a performance settings menu (and others) you can mess around with.

## Player Model Customization

The customizable player models mod can be used to change the shape of your player model, add custom animations, and much more. If you're interested in this mod, I recommend following a youtube tutorial and/or joining the mod's discord server, because it is quite advanced (but very worth it). It's basically a 3d model editor for your minecraft character. It's also possible to find free models online or in the discord server (if you want recommendations hit me up). Just be warned, the discord is chock full of *interesting* people.

## Redstone and Automation

This modpack adds copper pipes, copper hoppers, and the automatic Crafter block. Copper pipes are extremely useful and do a lot of different things, including transporting items. Copper hoppers act as item filters. Crafters function the same as the ones introduced in 1.21, only backported. There are also a lot of new redstone-interactable blocks that can do a variety of cool things in other mods in the pack (like supplementaries).

## Decoration

THere are now a huge number of stone block variants to build with. There are also plenty of good looking furniture items to craft courtesy of handcrafted.
